To celebrate this new year, we decided to do something different apart from the normal routine like partying, clubbing, dining, etc. so we decided to go camping. With a friend’s recommendation, we went to Cherating which is in the Pahang region of Malaysia. There are pretty decent options of hotels and resorts at Cherating but as we want to go camping, so we choose Payung Getaway campsites for a night of camping.

The campsite is easy to locate and exactly in front of the sea. I was in love with the place the moment I saw the campsite. There is a vast sea in front of you, your tent on the beach, pine trees all around, adorable cats and dogs, a river at the back of the campsite, cool breeze, a very friendly and accommodative host what else do you expect for happy camping.

There are multiple options of tents for renting like small one (2 adults), standard (3 adults), family tent (4-5 adults). You can also take your own tent there; they will only charge nominally for space. Bedding, mattress, sleeping beds, etc. would not be given there so you have to carry all these with you. They have a common kitchen for self-cooking and toilets and an open shower to be shared by all. But trust me their toilets are very well maintained and clean with basic facilities. Carry your own toiletries with you. They have a free car parking spot near the campsite. They don’t offer any kind of food or beverage so please carry your own food and drinks along with you. Also, you can dine in any of the restaurants nearby. The best thing about Payung is that you can choose your camping spot all by yourself like you can choose a spot on the riverside or along the seaside. Your pets are also allowed to enjoy a good playtime with you.

We played in the sea witnessing a beautiful sunset, BBQed at the night, woke up to the chirping birds and the bright sun, did some yoga, kayaked in the river, showered under the open sky and packed our bag with a heavy heart to leave and desire to come back very soon. So, it was a day full of outdoor activities and good memories.

Have you ever slept under a blanket of stars undimmed by the city lights?
Unplugging with the technology and being with your conscious self?
Awakened by the bright light of the rising sun and roaring sea waves?
If yes, then you are one of those luckiest to testify the miracles of earth and if not then plan a camping trip with your loved ones to experience everything amazing and memorable. It could be a perfect romantic getaway or a qualitative time spent with your friends or family.
Camping is all about fun and appreciating the little things around. It is a great way to get a break from your normal routine, get some fresh air and to expand your appreciation for the natural world. While camping, all five senses are activated to take in the beauty of outdoors. And it’s a lot more than just BBQ and campfire (although those are a great part of camping). It may not be your cup of tea but trust me When you take a trip out into the wild with your tent and basic supplies you will find that there are many lessons to be learned from the experiences.

Things must carry for camping:
- Sleeping Beddings or mattress.
- Lights (battery or anything)
- Mosquito repellent or coil
- Food and water
- Toiletries
- Trash bin/bag (to throw your trash and make the surrounding clean)
- Beachwear 😛
The thing which I like the most about this campsite is the warm hospitality of Dan and Olga (host) and the huge camping spot between the river and the sea where your privacy is taken care of. It is not like the clumsy glamping or camping site where you can clearly hear a person from the other tent snoring.
