Genting has always proved to be my favorite spot for a perfect weekend getaway, as it has a lot to offer like a perfect mountain view, cooler temperature, shopping, picturesque spots, cable car, relaxing coffee shops and of course casino. The chilly breezy weather at Genting is something which is not very usual in Kuala Lumpur.

Genting Highlands is pronounced ghen-ting with a hard “G” — is in Pahang, Peninsula Malaysia. Officially its knows as resort world Genting and a self-proclaimed city of entertainment. It is Malaysia’s wholesome version of sin city i.e. Las Vegas on the mountain top. The conclusion is that Genting is the only place where you can gamble legally in Malaysia, but there’s also a theme park to keep the kids amused. The resort offers six hotels with 10,000 rooms, over 50 fun rides, 170 dining and shopping outlets, shows, business convention facilities and entertainment options. As a plus, being located up in the highlands means it’s cooler than the steamy lowlands. Many visitors come to Genting for the sole purpose of experiencing the chill, where the temperature can get to as low as 10 degrees Celsius. Genting attracted 19.2 million visitors in 2008.

The company that owns and runs the resort at Genting Highland, also owns the neighboring Singapore’s Integrated Resort at Resort World Sentosa.

You can start a bit early in the morning to enjoy the cloudy and foggy weather while reaching Pahang. There are plenty of Chinese restaurants at Gohtong jaya which serves authentic Chinese food with a variety of options where you can have your lunch. After having your tummy filled you can head straight to the Chin swee caves temple by cable car or by your own transport. If you are travelling for the first time, then I would suggest you to have a cable car ride to enjoy the lush green cloudy view from the top which you will never regret for.

Chin Swee caves temple is a Taoist temple and the most recognized landmark here is the nine-story pagoda, which is fitted with images of Buddha and thousands of blessing lamps. The panoramic mountain view from the top of the pagoda is something that is not to be missed. Within the temple ground, there is a gigantic Buddha statue which is a delight to eye and soul both.

If you are a diehard shopper, then here comes your destination called Genting Highlands Premium outlet shopping mall which offers huge discounts on big brands. It’s an open-air shopping mall with an extensive collection of designer fashion, accessories, sportswear, luggage, and a food court too.
Then you reach to your final destination i.e. at the peak of the mountain, where there are lot more coffee shops to enjoy the breezy weather with a sip of coffee with your family & friends. Another big mall with lots of brands, fine dining restaurants & coffee shops as well. And one of the main attraction here is the casino, which is one of the finest casino in Asia offering most exciting games combined with hi-tech technology.
